Berneray Week 2006
The following is the listing of events for the 2006 Berneray week. All events take place on the island of Berneray. 2pm, Saturday 15th July: "It's a Knockout"Fun and games on the Machair. A CHANGE OF CLOTHES IS ESSENTIAL IF YOU ARE PARTICIPATING. Adult teams contain 4 adults and 1 child under the age of 16. Child teams consist of 4 children and 1 adults over 16. Either come along as part of a team, or come on your own as teams will be made up on the day. Free soup and roll for all competitors. Barbecue and refreshments available.
Adults £2, children £1 2pm, Monday 17th July: DuathlonCycling and running; bring your own bike. Four different age groups from 5 to adults. Prizes in each category. Gather at Berneray community hall. Entry fee: £2 10pm, Monday 17th July: Traditional Ceilidh Dance: SkerryvoreBerneray Community Hall. Adults £6, children (over 12) £4. 2pm, Tuesday 18th July: Berneray Sports DayA fun day for all the family. On Berneray Machair by the Community Hall. 5 a side football, children's fun run, the mini marathon (approx. 4.5 miles) and all the usual races. Barbecue and refreshments available. Adults £2, children £1 7:30pm, Tuesday 18th July: Slideshow of The Hebrides and St. KildaBy Alasdair MacEachan. Tea and coffee during the evening. Admission £1; donations welcome. 1.30pm, Wednesday 19th July: Sandcastle CompetitionOpen to all ages. Bring a bucket, spade and your ideas. Gather at Berneray Community hall. Prizes for different age groups. Refreshments available. Free entry. 8pm, Wednesday 19th July: Beach Barbecue and DiscoWest beach (weather permitting); Berneray Community Hall if the weather is bad. Games for children.
This event finishes around midnight.
Thursday 20th July: Island trip to BorerayFrom 9:30am. Limited spaces. For bookings, please phone Chrissie on 01876 540230. Departure times will be allocated by bookings. Departure point Otternish slipway, North Uist side. Boreray is a small island a short sail to the west. 7.30pm, Friday 21st July: Traditional concertArtists include JA MacKay, Donald Paterson, Caroline Johnson, Derek MacIntosh, Padraig MacKay, Jamie Stewart and more. Concert takes place in Berneray community hall.
Adults £6, children (over 12) £4; under 12s free. 11pm, Friday 21st July: DanceJA MacKay, in Berneray community hall. If you enjoyed the concert why not stay for the dance.

Traditional ceilidhs and concerts are sponsored by The Scottish Arts Council.
