Coille an Fhàsaich book launch, Berneray Community Hall

**Please note that, due to adverse weather on the mainland, this event has been cancelled. Sorry.**

The launch of Donald MacKillop's award-winning autobiographical book, which includes memories of the author's childhood and schooldays on Berneray; seven months spent working as an assistant to shepherds on Pabbay; and leaving home for the mainland.

The event is hosted by the Comunn Eachdraigh and will be attended by Anne Lorne Gillies who will make a presentation about the book and sing some of Donald's songs. Acclaimed Gaelic singer Jenna Cumming will also sing a variety of songs, and will headline a ceilidh during the second half of the evening, involving local singers and musicians.

Copies of Coille an Fhàsaich will be available to buy during the evening, and there will be a break for refreshments. Entry will be by donation – all proceeds to support the work of Berneray Historical Society.

Berneray Week kicks off with a ceilidh.

Saturday 11th July, 2pm

3rd Berneray 10K Road & Cross-Country Race (a Berneray Week event)

Beautiful route - part road, part machair track and part beach. Two small hills, but mainly flat. Trophies for winner, second, third, first lady, first V40 and first Berneray finisher. Special prize for new course record. Current record 34:37 set by Neil Thin (South Uist) in 2008.

All finishers get a medal.

Participants must be aged 15 or over on race day. Entry £7, including post-race refreshments. Pre-register or register on the day. Registration from 1pm at Berneray Community Hall.
