Silversprite Internet Guidance

I undertake presentations and workshops that provide guidance and information on using the Internet effectively. Guidance is tailored to the experience level and needs of the audience; supplementary materials (online and in print) can also be provided.

Speciality subjects include:

  • designing, developing and maintaining personal, community and small business websites
  • generating revenue from your website
  • using the Internet effectively to save money
  • online services of use and relevance to fishermen and crofters
  • effectively publicising a website, using metadata, Google and other Internet-based technologies
  • the use of blogs, wikis and Web 2.0 technologies for fun, work and communication

I have experience in Internet-based technologies since 1993. Previous roles include being the Information Officer for UKOLN (UK Office for Library and Information Networking) and manager of OMNI (UK academic medical/health portal). Since 2001 I have been an Internet consultant, specialising in the effective use of Internet-based technologies in teaching, learning and education.

To date, I have held workshops and presentations in 19 countries, and on several islands (Berneray, Benbecula and South Uist) in the Outer Hebrides.
