Needs analysis: if you know you need a web presence but aren't sure exactly what you want from your site, we can discuss the options with you in non-technical terms, helping you identify the target audience of your website and any particular needs they might have. The result of this process is a 'website specification' which provides a strong basis on which to start building the site.

Design: we create clean, accessible websites that are custom made to meet the requirements of you and your target audience. Pictures, to make your site visually attractive, can either be taken by us or supplied by you. Finally, all your content will be proofread for a polished finish.

Online publicity: we can increase the profile of your website by publicising it online. We will submit it to the leading search engines and to relevant mailing lists, newsgroups and online media services. We will also arrange links from other websites and online services visited by your target audience.

Domains & hosting: if you haven't already done so, we will help you find and register a domain name for your site. Advice on hosting solutions to meet your specific requirements can also be provided.

Experience

John Kirriemuir has been a researcher and consultant in online digital services since 1993. He has created and maintained a number of academic and public websites, such as the Isle of Berneray community website and the Ariadne e-journal for the library community. His specialities include analysing the use of online services and effectively publicising websites.

Ruth Wilson first studied web design as part of her postgraduate course in Information Science at the University of Strathclyde (1999), and has since designed sites for several projects and services. She has a background in academic research, specialising in the usability of text on screen and working with end-users to investigate how to make online content readable and accessible. Ruth is also an experienced proofreader, accredited by the Society for Editors and Proofreaders.
