The new church

The new church

The new church was built in 1887-88. In 1929, the established church and the United Free Church merged, making the Church of Scotland. Services are open to all, and visitors to Berneray are especially welcome.

In 2001 the parishes of Berneray and Lochmaddy were merged. The Berneray congregation are joined by a congregation from Lochmaddy for one service every sunday; a second service takes place on the same day in the other congregation's church.
