2005 sheepdog trials (1)
In 2005, the North Uist agricultural society held its annual sheepdog trials on the machair of Berneray. This is a particularly suitable location, as the lack of rabbits means that there is no danger of a leg (dog, sheep or man) going down a rabbit hole. Note that the shepherd stands at a post, from which he or she orders the dog through a series of whistling noises. The dog manoevres the flock of four sheep around various gates and into a pen.
