Berneray Development Group : Buidheann Leasachaidh
Berneray Development Group (BDG) was formed in October 2002 and is a company limited by guarantee with charitable status. It aims to work hand in hand with the Community Council on a variety of projects of value and interest to the community as a whole. A specific key responsibility of the BDG is the management of the Nurse's Cottage, a recently-opened facility which houses a display by the Berneray Historical Society, a tourist information point, a youth café and also office facilities which are available for rent. The BDG also operates various management and maintenance contracts around the island on behalf of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar. The BDG holds meetings approximately every other month and also issues newsletters to inform the community of its activities. It is envisaged that these communication aspects of the BDG's work will increase in the future. Company No.: SC 238574
