Berneray Evergreens Group : Buidheann nan Duilleagan

The morning after snow

Evergreens is a group of over 60s on Berneray and was formed with the help of the Council Social Work Department (Mr M Macdonald) in April 2000, when a small committee was created.

We meet between 12.30 and 2.30pm on the first Tuesday of every month (excluding January, July and August) at various venues, where we enjoy soup, sandwiches, tea, coffee, etc. In early December there is a Christmas lunch organised by the committee at a local hotel. During the July/August break an outing is organised to somewhere further afield, for example Stornoway.

The Evergreens at a Christmas social event.

The regular meetings cost each member £3.00 which includes tickets for a raffle. The Christmas lunch is paid for by the club funds, as is the summer trip. Funds are supplemented by organising an annual sale of work/bring-and-buy at the Community Hall.

We are a very easy-going outfit and everyone is encouraged to chip in their views and suggestions for future meetings. New members are always welcome.
